Search Engine Marketing (SEM)

This term is often used in the digital marketing world along with Search Engine Optimization or SEO.  To simplify the meanings, SEO is the long term practice of trying to optimize your website and directory listings like your Google Business Profile to rank organically when someone is searching for specific keywords, which can ultimately generate new leads and help you "Get Found".

SEM on the other hand is the practice of running pay per click (PPC) , pay per impressions (PPI) , or pay per lead / phone call.  The name of the game for any digital advertising campaign is the click or call will go to whoever is willing to pay the most money to be at the top of searches.

Google will gladly take as much money you have to spend on a digital ads campaign with them, so it is even more critical that you do it right.

A High-Quality Website With No Money Down

Does anyone pick up the phone anymore?
By Jim Marshall, President of Bluefoot Digital Marketing 20 Jun, 2022
The current Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted nearly every business in one capacity or another. Some have been asked to work remotely, others have been forced to shut down temporarily, and some have been forced to alter their business practices and procedures in order to remain open and serve the public. The one thing virtually every business owner has been forced to do recently is communicate these changes to their customers. As you drive past businesses, you’ll see signs posted in nearly every window attempting to accomplish this task. But if you’re a business owner, how should you communicate these changes to your digital audience—those who aren’t driving past your physical location? Posting a message on your website is a start, but just Google your business name and you’ll see lots of other web content related to your company that needs updating, too, including your Google My Business listing, along with many directory listings like Yelp, Trip Advisor, and more. In order to properly manage all of these “digital storefronts,” you’d have to print virtual signs and run around to these 70+ digital locations and tape each of them up. Then run around and change them each time that message changes. There is a better way. As soon as announcements were made forcing businesses to make changes, Mimi reached out to our Local Search clients and helped them compose and post appropriate alternative messages related to Covid-19 and the stay-at-home order—instantly. We also created a custom graphic to make sure their posts stood out on these 70+ directory listings. With Mimi’s Local Search management solution, we handle all the heavy lifting for you. And as things evolve—and your message, procedures or store hours change—we can help you instantly communicate those changes, too. Our Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: How much does a website cost?

We can build an optimized website with professional content including a video with no setup fees for an affordable monthly fee that includes more than a website. Our Snap site solutions start as low as $195 / month schedule a free evaluation to learn more.

  • Q: I saw an ad on TV for a website builder that looks easy enough. Can I just build my own website?

There are lots of tools out there that can be used to build your own website. You can also rent a backhoe but that doesn’t mean you should try to do your own excavating, but if you are the adventurous DIY type then we are happy to give you some free pointers for success.

  • Q: I just got a negative review on Google how do I get it removed?

Unfortunately, no matter how hard you try, it’s not a matter of if you’ll get a negative review but when.  Sadly, there are very few cases that Google will remove a review, so the best way to handle a negative review is respond and try to resolve the issue with the client and if that fails then get more positive reviews so people will ignore the negative ones.

  • Q: Why should I schedule a free digital evaluation? I know you will just try to sell me your services.

We believe in educating clients on what they need to do to “look good” and “get found” online and also believe in sharing how to do it.  Our free digital evaluation is a brief 45 minute zoom meeting primarily focused on educating and sharing some of our digital marketing knowledge with you.  Clients tell us all the time how refreshing and informative our evaluations are.

  • Q: What is Local Search or Local SEO?

Local Search is a search aimed at finding something in a specific local geography, such as “kitchen remodeler Cleveland” or “coffee shop near me.” That often produce Google’s interactive map listing pins identifying the location of businesses.  Local SEO is the process of optimizing your website and more importantly your google listing so that your business shows up on Google’s Local listing map results.

  • Q: Do you offer Social Media Management?

We get asked this question all the time from current customers and new ones, and the answer is no we don’t.

We believe Social media is meant to be personable and intimate so the best person to manage and produce the content is you.

Could we do it for you?  Yes, but we don’t believe in selling a service unless we believe it will most likely produce a positive ROI for our clients.  We have found that in order to do social media effectively as a 3rd party, that nets tangible results, would require a substantial ongoing investment of time from both us and our clients resulting in a minimum fee of $3,000 or more a month.  We can always produce a better ROI investing that money in Google ads or even other advertising on social media rather than building content for posts that are seen by few without paid boosts further increasing the costs.

For those reasons, we have chosen not to offer social media management, and we caution clients that hire someone to do social media posts for them to question the effectiveness of that work and ensure you can track and measure the results.
